To overcome the stereotypes that hinder women's access to the STEM world, the Bracco Foundation has created " Mind the Stem Gap ," a Manifesto to be signed, shared, and disseminated to facilitate girls' access to scientific disciplines.
The objectives of the Manifesto:
- Overcoming the Gender Gap in STEM
- promote a more inclusive education for girls, free from stereotypes and prejudices
- support the educational community, in the family and at school
- enhance the contribution of women to scientific disciplines
The principles expressed in the Manifesto touch on fundamental aspects of personal development: language, cultural stereotypes, behavioral models, play and cognitive development, access to knowledge, and lifelong learning.
To increase their concreteness, the principles have been broken down into 3 versions:
- for girls and boys, launched on 11 February 2022 on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science at an international conference at Expo Dubai 2020
- for the family
- for school
so as to reach all the figures who, in various capacities, collaborate in the educational project that involves girls and boys, boys and girls: the so-called educational community.
Signing the Mind the Stem Gap Manifesto is a concrete step toward demonstrating our commitment to an important issue that impacts scientific development, and therefore our future.
