Clara Troncon

Role

Senior Researcher at the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), Milan Section, and Scientific Associate at CERN in Geneva

Bio

A Physics graduate from the University of Trieste, she has been a Senior Researcher at the INFN in Milan and a scientific associate at CERN in Geneva continuously since 1978. Throughout her career, she has held prestigious management and scientific evaluation roles for the INFN, for ANVUR-MIUR in the VQR committees, and was the Italian Delegate on the CERN ACCU committee.

Her research interests include elementary particle physics and the development of silicon vertex detector technology. She has collaborated on key experiments at particle accelerators such as SPS (EHS) and LEP (DELPHI), where she conducted measurements for elementary particle physics and the precision verification of the Standard Model.

Within the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), she played a key role in the construction of the pixel detector and in the analyses conducted for the discovery and characterization of the Higgs boson, as well as in the search for new physics and supersymmetric particles. She is the author of over 1,600 international scientific publications.
