Bio

She graduated in Mathematics from the University of Catania in 1988 and received her PhD in Mathematics from Luleå University, Sweden, in 2012. Since 2017, she has been a full professor of Mathematical Analysis at the University of Catania, where she was Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mathematical Analysis and Director of CUTGANA (University Center for the Protection and Management of Natural Environments and Agro-Ecosystems). She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Gioenia Academy, currently in her second term in an elected position.

From October 2017 to July 2019, she was appointed Rector's Delegate for Internationalization in the Scientific Field. From September 2025 to the present, she has been Rector's Delegate for Internationalization of Teaching.

His prolific research focuses on the study of partial differential equations , Morrey spaces, regularity of solutions, and regularization problems for local minima . In the field of applied mathematics, he has developed specific mathematical models aimed at environmental protection, defining an innovative index for calculating desertification risk and analyzing the impact of Saharan particulate matter on the climate.

He has extended his analytical models to the epidemiological field to monitor the spread of the coronavirus and analyze the trend of Covid-19 by comparing Covid-19 data from different countries. Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Mathematics Research, he has over 90 high-impact publications in prestigious international journals and collaborations with research centers such as Harvard, MIT, and the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa.
