Bio
After graduating in Chemistry from the University of Milan, she earned her PhD from the University of Bari in 1988, beginning her scientific career at the National Research Council (CNR) that same year. She has worked in Milan since 1996, where from 2020 to 2022 she served as Research Director at the Institute of Chemical Sciences and Technologies "Giulio Natta" (SCITEC-CNR), where she is currently a Senior Associate.
Her research focuses on the application of heterogeneous catalysis for sustainable chemistry and the valorization of renewable raw materials . She has developed innovative processes for the conversion of vegetable oils and agro-industrial waste into high-value bioproducts, including biolubricants , biosurfactants , biomaterials , and antioxidant- rich extracts . She has coordinated major circular economy projects (VeLiCA, RiceRes, CirCo) aimed at the transformation of rice and coffee by-products. She is a member of the National Coordination Group for the Bioeconomy 2024-28 of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
In 2021, she was awarded the Piero Pino Medal by the Industrial Chemistry Division of the Italian Chemical Society for her outstanding contributions to the use of catalysis and renewable resources. She boasts a rich editorial output, with numerous high-impact publications in international scientific journals.
