Full Professor of Physical Chemistry and Director of the PVsquared2 research group at the Department of Chemistry, University of Pavia
Bio
After graduating in Physical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 2008, she earned her PhD in Physics in 2012, developing advanced spectroscopic techniques for the study of ultrafast chemical and physical processes in semiconductors. During her studies, she also conducted research at the University of Oxford.
After a postdoctoral fellowship at the Italian Institute of Technology, she continued her career at EPFL in Lausanne, first as a researcher and then as a team leader, contributing to the development of emerging photovoltaic technologies. In 2019, she joined the University of Pavia, where she initiated the ERC Starting Grant project HYNANO, dedicated to the design of innovative nanomaterials for next-generation solar cells. She is currently a Full Professor of Chemistry and leads the PVsquared2 research group, an international, multidisciplinary team dedicated to the development of advanced materials and technologies for photovoltaics. In 2024, she was awarded an ERC Consolidator Grant, further consolidating a line of research focused on the development of efficient, stable, and sustainable next-generation photovoltaic technologies.
His scientific activity focuses on understanding the fundamental processes governing light-matter interaction in advanced semiconductors and their application to optoelectronic devices, with a particular focus on perovskite solar cells. His research integrates materials design, photophysical mechanisms, device development, and, more recently, sustainability and circularity strategies to reduce the environmental impact of photovoltaic technologies and promote a more responsible use of resources.
His scientific career has been accompanied by numerous national and international awards. His scientific activity includes over 160 publications and 12 patents in the field of advanced materials for optoelectronics.
