Bio
She graduated in Economics and Business from the University of Modena in 1980 and earned a PhD in Economics from New York University. Throughout her academic career, she has taught at major European and American universities, including the European University Institute in Florence, Columbia University, and the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and is a full professor of Economics at the London Business School.
From 2005 to 2008, she was Director General for Research at the European Central Bank (ECB). Her main scientific contributions concern econometrics, monetary policy, and business cycle analysis, with particular emphasis on the development of advanced methods for real-time macroeconomic forecasting, including through the founding of the company Now-Casting Economics.
In addition to his academic work, he has held governance and administrative roles in leading international banking and insurance groups—including Unicredit, Eurobank, and Ageas—and is a columnist for leading publications such as Corriere della Sera and Project Syndicate. He holds various scientific and institutional roles, including: member of the Productivity Council of France, member of the governing body of the London Business School, and member of the Rhine Group.
